Rant 00002 and other sundries

Posted by retiredpo1 on 02/27/2010

I caught part of the “health care summit” on a break at work. Talk about a joke! Does the cinc/totus have any f***ing clue about what is the feeling out here in the real world. The space inside the beltway is it’s own little world, after all.It resembles Helion Prime from the “Chronicles of Riddick” more than the country it is the “center” of. Even with raw data staring them in the face, the three stooges, obama, reid and the wicked witch of the west still want to socialize one-sixth of the US economy. And help a large number of the citizenry to the grave, since they would cost to much. Rat Bastards anyway!

Sorry for the slacking off. I has been one of them weeks with broke airplanes and lots of flights. As the new guy and grade ten I am the designated first up on the list to prep, launch and recover. Then is the preflight/basic post flight, fuel and secure the aircraft for the day. Keeps one busy. Several mornings a week I start with the lights on out on the line. It is has an overhead shade and lighting!

At least it is the weekend! But so much for hitting the weeds with roundup. It is raining. Yes it does rain in the High Desert. There is still snow on the tops of the San Gabriel Mountains between us and the LA Basin/San Fernando Valley Metro Mess.

And just for Snigs. Keep on Truckin”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Sunny Day in Cal City

Posted by retiredpo1 on 02/14/2010

New solar sidewalk lights

I put in the solar ones today, as it was a fabulously sunny and warm day here in the Desert.

The Patio!

The Patio at the Casa de Sharon y Glenn. The BBQ got a work out later in the day. Filet Mignons and Lobster Tails for dinner. OH MY! 8)

I can’t call it theĀ Veranda, as my buddy Buck at Exile in Portales already has that covered.

Looking north

The Tehachapi Mountains near the Red Rock Canyon State Park. It is a short drive from here. Ain’t the desert pretty in the sunshine? šŸ˜‰

Condors Maybe?

I had to go to the Doctor in Tehachapi for a check up and meet & greet with the clinic we picked. I took the trusty old Z612 from Kodak.

The birds in the last one are two of about 40 or so that were circling over our part of town. I want to say they are condors of some kind. I have no idea but they looked neat.

Made it follow up

Posted by retiredpo1 on 12/16/2009

The Missus has second degree burns on six of her toes due to the heater in the Penske Rental truck. It had two settings, cold and full blast furnace. We had spent Sunday, Monday and yesterday evenings at High Desert Medical Group’s 24 hour urgent care in Lancaster. Not tonight, even though they wanted her back. She has an appointment in Tehachapi at the branch facility there. It is closer to us than Lancaster and not as big a pain with the holiday shopping traffic. I have been running on not a lot of sleep. Tonight is Mythbusters and nighty-night. At least I will have a short day tomorrow, with taking an hour leave to get her there. I do have everything in the garage and house. That’s it as last Saturday was 11 hours of OT.
And this will be the first Christmas Season with just the two of us. After 27 and 1/2 years together total. 26 and 1/2 of it married. Interesting situation and feelings for us. Last year we had two of our kids and their families over. That was six of the eight grandchildren. And now, this year, not a one.

Name change

Posted by retiredpo1 on 12/12/2009

I decided to make it more reflective of where I now live and work. I apologize to any and all who may be confused. The link will be the same.
I already have one that is related to my Sea Service Career and those other fun and games that hit us when we least expect it. But I did import to this one from the other one because of the blogroll.
