harry reid and the dems double standard

Posted by retiredpo1 on 01/10/2010

I guess it’s just fine and dandy for harry reid to make a statement about the cinc when he was a senator. And oh yes, a black senator who wasn’t maybe “negro” enough or words to that effect. Harry said it, not me. But it is amusing to see the white house issue an apology almost immediately. To a member of the party that is historically the political party of the KKK. Would it be possible that harry reid is a closet bigot? Hmmmmm. Just wondering on that one.

Had this been say Jim DeMint, or Mitch McConnell, all hell would have broken loose. The charlatans, court prostitutes, race baiters and excuse makers would have been calling for a neck tie party. And we know that the party of the KKK which teaches us “tolerance” would have not had any tolerance at all. Double standard now in effect.

I sincerely hope that each and every time the majority leader opens his mouth, it causes his polling numbers in Nevada to drop a couple of points. And so far he is in very deep kim chee in hid bid to retain his seat. I have never seen an individual so extremely capable of talking out of both sides of his mouth at the same time. Gives billy jeff a run for his money on the definition of “is” doesn’t he?

The reader will notice that I have a propensity to not use capital letters when identifying elected and appointed officials. It is a respect thing. And mine is paid for as noted in the page marked Naval Career.

Airplane nuts and certain differences

Posted by retiredpo1 on 11/28/2009

As you fine folks have noticed that I do have a fondness for airplanes. I love airplanes, specifically those airplanes with launch bars, tailhooks and folding wings. Kind of obvious don’t ya think?
But somewhat over twenty years ago, I was an Argonaut. But of a slightly different type. When we completed the Circumnavigation aboard The Good Ship USS Kitty Hawk CV63, we were flying and maintaining the LTV A-7E Corsair II. After that deployment, I transferred to NAS Lemoore SeaOpDet. But within two years of the completion of that deployment, the original A-7 squadron had become a Strike Fighter Squadron. That being said, I was still an Argonaut so pictures of that squadron’s aircraft will be found at Old Retired Petty Officer on occasion. Even if they are Hornettes(that is for Buck!)
When we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the squadron, most of the people in that photo were children!Reference: Bob Dylan, The times they are a changin’.

New stuff on the blog!

Posted by retiredpo1 on 10/25/2009

A Gold First Class Rating Badge and Crossed Mauls and Wings! Getting more nautical as we go!Well as nautical as an Airdale can get, anyway! And they are mauls according to the Bluejacket’s Manual, not hammers. Even though they are refered to as hammers and wings. It is the Rating Device of the Aviation Structural Mechanic. It was for all service ratings, S, H and E. S was actual sheetmetal/structural, H was for hydraulic systems and E for canopies and egress systems.
Fair Warning! See what happens when I don’t have anything constructive to do!!!!!!!!!!! And as soon as I find that medal and ribbon site, I will put all my junk on the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went and found the stuff as you can see.
And the EA-6B Prowler is assigned to VAQ-140, my last command. It is the unit that I was assigned to at retirement from active duty on 30 September 1993 at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington.
